9 years after the original Sin City film was released, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez have reunited to bring us back into the “Sin City” universe. This movie is just as twisted and gritty as the first one.
Similarly to the original Sin City, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For shows us several interrelated stories that tie into each other and the original film. Marv (Mickey Rourke) awakens on a highway near a corpse, having no recollection of how he got there. Johnny (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) walks into a bar and wins big money at a slot machine after a stripper named Marcie (Julia Garner) blows on his coin. Dwight (Josh Borlin) is spying on Joey (Ray Liotta) as he abuses a prostitute in his room. Meanwhile Nancy (Jessica Alba) is visiting the grave of her saviour John Hartigan (Bruce Willis) after he died to save her in the original film. Nancy is now abusing alcohol and continues to strip at Kadie’s.
