Luke Evans just landed a role in the highly anticipated live action Disney remake of Beauty and the Beast as none other than the crass, vain, egomaniac Gaston. Evans is joining Emma Watson in the film who has already signed on as Belle. Luke Evans most recently played Bard in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies a brave, humble, and powerful descendant of Girion, The Lord of Dale, a very different role than the one he is set to play in this movie.
Beauty and the Beast will be directed by Bill Condon, the director behind Twilight: Breaking Dawn, and produced by Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman.
UPDATE: Dan Stevens will be starring as the Beast in the film.
