HBO lovers with no cable access are in luck! HBO has recently announced that a standalone streaming service “HBO NOW” for HBO shows will launch in 2015.
This would eliminate the need for users to buy expensive cable packages if all they really watch on TV is True Blood. It would also be a great asset to those who spend hours on the internet searching for an HQ version of the latest episode of Game of Thrones. Rates for the HBO streaming service have not yet been announced. We’re sure to be hearing more updates in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
According to BloombergBusinessweek cable subscriptions are at an all-time low. HBO launching a streaming service is definitely another big blow to the cable industry – others such as CBS are following suit. So it’s safe to say that cable-providers are not rejoicing at the latest news from HBO – but we sure are!
