David Tenant, best known for playing The Doctor on Doctor Who, has been confirmed as the actor playing the villain Zebediah Kilgrave (The Purple Man) in the upcoming Netflix series Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones.

In a statement to Marvel, Executive Producer Melissa Rosenberg said, “I’m so honored and exited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character. He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He’ll make Kilgrave a truly original villain”.

Tenant is joining Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter, who have already been cast in their roles as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, respectively. The plot takes place in New York City and centers around Jessica Jones, a detective that specializes in cases involving individuals with unusual abilities. Kilgrave will be appearing as an individual from Jones’ past who shakes up her life.
