The guessing game is over – we finally know who our long-awaited Supergirl will be: Melissa Benoist. The actress is perhaps best recognized for playing Marley Rose on the popular musical drama TV series Glee and for her role as Nicole in the recent, highly praised, Whiplash.

The Supergirl series will be created by Warner Bros. TV and based around the famous DC Comics character of Supergirl, otherwise known as Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin. After being taken in by a foster family, Kara learns to conceal her superpowers and try to live a normal life. However an unforeseen disaster strikes which causes her to use her powers and finally be the hero she was hiding from the world.

No filming or release dates have been set as of yet, but we will keep you updated as more details emerge.
